Old Harbor - necklace

Handmade brown sea glass pendant necklace in rhodium-plated silver, 42cm.

 Sea glass doesn't start out beautiful. It starts as broken glass, tossed into the sea, tumbled against sand and rock for years until the sharp edges disappear and it turns soft, frosted, and smooth. The piece in this pendant was found along an old stretch of the Lebanese coastline once used by fishing boats, which is where the name comes from.

I set each piece simply in silver, without adding extra decoration, because the glass itself already carries its own history: you can feel the texture change under your thumb where the sea did its slow work. What was once discarded becomes something worth wearing.
